In March a crack group of mountain bikers went to the Valle Blanche,
near Chamonix, and embarked on a 10 mile trek down the mountain. The only
problem was that it was still covered with snow, skiers, and snowboarders. With
nothing but studded tires to keep them from plunging to their deaths, they
crossed crevasses and negotiated loose, slushy snow to make their historic
descent in just six hours. It wasn't easy, but given the conditions, it was
pretty freaking amazing.
