The ABSA Cape Epic is the Tour de France of Mountain Bike Racing.
Taking place over a week in South Africa, it covers more than 400 miles and
nearly 50,000 feet of climbing. The terrain is rugged, the temps are scorching.
It's an endurance test like none other.
In the first episode of Racing the Untamed we go back in time to see
how how the legendary German mountain biking team 'Bulls' first made their name
at the race. In 2007 the original Bulls team of Karl Platt and Stefan Sahm won
the event, despite Platt dislocating his shoulder. More victories followed in
2009 and 2010. Platt, Sahm, and their team manager, Friedemann Schmude re-live
those moments and explain why the ABSA Cape Epic is such an awesome and
challenging race.
