It all started on a sunny morning in Broadway street, where the mountain bikers were seeking spots to cool down. Clouds were gathering quickly. The activity goes on at high, humid temperatures. Current leader of the UCI MTB XCE World Cup, Lorenzo Serres, as well as runner-up, Alberto Mingorance were both present in Columbus.

Finals

Three Europeans and one American are aiming for the title
The start didn't go smoothly for World Cup leader, Lorenzo Serres. Coming out of the starting blocks, his chain got stuck and he was forced to chase.

With top lap times in practice, Simon Rogier (FRA) started the qualifying heat with a lot of self-confidence. He grabbed the lead and was followed by Alberto Mingorance Fernández (ESP). Mingorance was riding strong in the qualifying heat. After Volterra, he now proved himself on the streets of Columbus, Georgia.

Entering the final lap, the two were having a neck-and-neck race. It was Rogier who was the strongest. Seth Kemp crossed the line as third and become the first American mountain biker to finish on a City Mountainbike podium.

Lorenzo Serres is still in the lead with 5 points ahead of Mingorance. He is seeking more success at the World Cup in Waregem (BEL) in three weeks time, where he will defend the Santini's UCI MTB Eliminator World Cup leaders jersey.
